The schedule for the newest NWSL team has been announced. This marks the return of women’s top flight professional soccer since 2010. The women will open on the road at LA against Angel City on March 16 and Washington on March 23 before finally making their home debut against Houston on March 30.
Home matches include three Friday Night fixtures when they host last year’s best regular season team San Diego on May 17 and defending champions Gotham FC (New York) the following week on May 24. The other Friday match on September 20 against Orlando marks the return of Brazilian legend Marta for the first time since 2010 when she was a player for the previous women’s professional Bay Area Club FC Gold Pride. Three more Friday matches on the road include Utah August 23, Portland August 30, and North Carolina September 13. Sunday matches include the Chicago Red Stars both at home May 5 and away June 9. Seattle and the Bay FC will also have another Sunday series with the home leg April 14 and the return leg September 29. The remaining Sunday match is at home against Utah on June 16.
Along with the Seattle series and the Angel City match on the road–the return leg will be at PayPal Park will be on June 22. The women will play San Diego on the road April 27 before meeting here on the road a few weeks later. The San Jose team will have their lone midweek game against the Thorns on May 1 at home in addition to the weekend August match. The home Thorns match will mark the return of another legendary player from the 2010 Gold Pride team Christine Sinclair of Canada.
Bay FC will conclude their home schedule in October with matches against KC Current on October 12 and North Carolina the following Saturday on October 19. The rest of the schedule will be at Houston on November 2.
