Quakes v Roots (US Open Cup)

After five years since the Roots debut in 2019 they finally meet the Quakes in a match that counts in the single elimination US Open Cup.  The match goes to the San Jose who defeat Oakland 1-0 with a late second half goal from Ousseni Bouda.

The Quakes fielded mostly reserves although Jackson Yueill was a second half substitute while the Roots lineup contained a mix of their main team and reserves.  New signee Dom Dwyer was present with the team but did not play.

Next up for the Quakes is a return to league play on the road at Colorado on Saturday May 11 at 6:30pm.  With the team advancing their next opponent in the tournament will be at Sacramento on May 21.  They defeated Monterey Bay 2-0 to advance against San Jose.  The eliminated Roots return to USL Championship play with a road match at New Mexico this Saturday at 6pm.
