The Roots win 1-0 thanks to a late goal and lockdown defense.  Soccer Bay Area and the Roots Blog have their summary on the match.  Dom Dwyer finally makes his Roots debut coming off the bench.

Bay FC was on the road to play at Chicago against the Red Stars at the home of the baseball Cubs.  This time a bit of payback as the San Jose club win 2-1 thanks to goals from Kiki Pickett in the 25th minute and Joelle Anderson with 11 minutes to go in the second half plus stoppage time.  Penelope Hocking spoiled the shutout bid with her goal late in the game.  The team returns home to PayPal Park to host fellow expansion team Utah Royals (the second incarnation of the club) Sunday night at 7pm.

Sacramento defeat Monterey Bay 2-0 on the road .  Next up for Sacramento is the Roots at home while Monterey head to play North Carolina away.

We will be back for more matches this weekend.  Stay tuned to for the latest in Bay Area soccer.
