The Quakes win in easy fashion over Sacramento 2-1 to advance to the Round of 16 in the US Open Cup.
Amahl Pellegrino opened up the scoring in the 2nd minute with his strike into the net to give the Quakes a 1-0 lead. Preston Judd slotted the ball into the net in the 44th minute to double the lead. The Quakes held on the lead and fended off the Republic offense but Trevor Amann wiped off the clean sheet with his goal in the 96th minute–however that result stood as the MLS club eliminated the USL Championship team in the tournament.
The Quakes next opponent in the tournament will at home against Portland on Tuesday May 20 at 7:30pm. Both teams resume league play in which the Quakes will head to the Denver area to face the Colorado Rapids on Saturday May 10 at 6:30pm, while Sacramento returns home to host Indy Eleven on the same day 7pm kickoff.
