This Week 5-19-25

There was only one match covered last week and it was big.

The Quakes drew 3-3 at home against Miami, and went on the road last Saturday to Foxboro, Massachusetts to play the New England Revolution and the match was a scoreless draw.  The main storylines were the return of Bruce Arena back to his former team, while Jackson Yueill (did not play) and Tanner Beason (started–84 minutes in match) played for the Quakes as late as last season.  Nick Lima has suited up for both teams in his career and played the entire match for the Quakes. Next up for the Quakes is a US Open Cup match at home against Portland on Tuesday at 7:30–with the first match going to the Quakes on May 3 and this time it’s win or go home.

Bay FC wins 2-0 over Angel City thanks to goals in the span of five minutes by Penelope Hocking in the 23rd minute and Caroline Conti off the penalty spot in the 28th.  Kevin Nguyen of Soccer Bay Area has the report on the match, while once again Jason Reed has the photo dispatch.

Both teams paid homage to Savy King, who suffered a medical incident during Angel City’s match against Utah at BMO Stadium on May 9.  King played for Bay FC in their inaugural season in 2024 before being dealt to Angel City FC before the start of the current season.

Next up for the women is a road trip against the Houston Dash on Saturday at 2pm.  Of note: it’s a Bay Area against Houston series with the Dynamo coming here to San Jose to play the Quakes on the same day–7:30pm kickoff.

Racheal Kundananji started for Bay FC and while she provided offensive firepower it was Hocking and Conti that factored into the scoresheet against Angel City (Jason Reed/jasonreedphotos – fieldofdaydreams)
