Bay FC and Houston Dash drew even 2-2 Saturday at PayPal Park. The match was the return to league to play since June due to the break with international play in Europe, South America, Asia, and Africa.
Penelope Hocking gave the home team the lead with her strike in the 21st minute from a Racheal Kundananji cross in her return to play after representing Zambia in the African Nations Cup. The second half goals came in succession with Kiki Van Zanten of the Dash scoring the equalizer in the 72nd minute. Bay FC got the lead back 2 minutes later with Taylor Huff scoring her first goal of her career. However, Houston drew another game tying goal with Sophie Schmidt scoring in traffic in the 88th minute–giving the visitors a point on the road. In the 73th minute, Caprice Dydasco surpassed 15,000 minutes in her 11 year league career in 184 games.
Next up for Bay FC is a road match to Chicago on Sunday August 10 at 11am, while Houston hosts North Carolina Courage on Friday August 8 5pm start.
