Bay FC v San Diego Wave

Bay FC lose to San Diego 2-1 at PayPal Park.  After a scoreless halftime, Kimmi Ascanio gave San Diego the lead with her 53rd minute strike. Kenza Dali added another goal for the Wave in the 63rd minute but Caroline Conti scored off the penalty spot in the 75th to cut the deficit in half, but the home could not muster any other chances to draw even, giving the visitors the win and second place with 29 points with Kansas City Current on top with 4o points.  Defending champions Orlando and Washington are tied for 3rd with 28 while Bay FC fall below the playoff line with 17 points in 11th place three points behind Gotham City with 20 and holding the eight and final postseason spot.

 

Next for Bay FC is a match hosting the Washington Spirit at Oracle Park in San Francisco in their second game on a baseball stadium in as many years, with their first being a win at Wrigley Field against the Chicago Stars last year.  The event is anticipated to be a sellout with the game to kick off at 1 pm on Saturday August 23.  The Wave will return home to host Racing Louisville on Sunday August 24 at 5pm.
