There was one event this weekend and it was a blockbuster. The storybook ending didn’t happen compared to last year at Chicago but women’s professional soccer is a hit. We will be adding more along the way but for this weekly report Soccer Bay Area has two reports on the game–the first from Kevin Nguyen on the match, and the second from Doug Zimmerman on how San Francisco can be a hotbed for a top flight team with the focus on the women.

Stay tuned to the end of the report for an extra set from The Show at Oracle Park.
The Roots lose on the road at Lexington and Michael Koenig of Soccer Bay Area and Jonathan Comeaux with The Blog have their takes on the match. Next up is a holiday match at the Coliseum against rival Monterey Bay this Saturday.
The Quakes take a 2-0 lead at Houston but hold off a comeback to win 2-1 to stay in contention. Chicho Arango’s first half goal and Preston Judd’s strike in the second half gave the team a much needed three points in their road trip. Next up is another match in Texas, this time at Austin Saturday at 5:30pm in which the course of the season may be decided.
Also, the second teams played each other on Friday and The Town FC eke out a 1-0 win over Dynamo 2 with Nick Fernandez accounting for the lone goal and continuing their winning streak of seven regulation wins. The team returns home, this time to PayPal Park for another match against Real Monarchs.
