Bay FC drew 1-1 against Gotham FC at PayPal Park on Sunday night. Rose Lavelle gave the New York/New Jersey club the lead with her run to the goal in the 36th minute off an Esther González pass and striking the ball into the low post. Rachael Kundananji drew the team even in the 68th minute with her goal after coming off the bench five minutes earlier for Tess Boade. The draw was the team’s second consecutive draw after getting a point from Orlando Pride the previous game.
Currently Bay FC sits in 12th place (19 points) needing to get results and help to get to the 8th spot currently held by Carolina (28 points) and qualify for post season play. In between the team will need to leapfrog past Angel City (24 points), Racing Louisville (26 points), and Houston (26 points).
Next up for Bay FC is another home game against Utah Royals on Saturday September 27 at 7pm in their penultimate match at PayPal Park. Gotham FC return to New Jersey to host Portland on Friday September 26 at 5pm.
