The Quakes second team defeat LAFC2 by a score of 4 to 1 in their home opener, getting their first win of the season after losing on the road to Portland the week before.
Ernesto Rodriguez of LAFC 2 opened up the scoring with his 6th minute goal and that was the only goal for the visitors. Nick Fernandez drew the Quakes II even with his 32nd minute strike, with Julian Donnery getting the go-ahead goal 8 minutes later. The remaining goals were tallied in the second half with Noel Buck and new first team signee Nonso Adimabua securing the lead and the win for the Quakes in the 57th and 62nd minutes respectively. The match was the first time since the 2023 season the second unit will be playing the majority of their matches at PayPal Park.
Next up for Quakes II is a road trip to Tacoma to meet the Defiance on Saturday March 14 at 7pm PT while LAFC 2 will continue their road trip to Utah to play Real Monarchs on Sunday March 15 at 2:30pm PT.
