Angel City was the dominant team with their 3-1 win over Bay FC handing them their first loss of the season. Sveindis Jane Jonsdottir of the visitors opened up the scoring three minutes early in the game, and added another goal in the 53rd minute. Giselle Thompson added to the tally with her strike into the net in the 32nd minute. Taylor Huff gave the home team a chance to come back with her score off the post and into the net in the 57th minute but it was not enough, giving Angel City the three points on the road.
The game was marked with very physical play with 5 yellow cards–one each to Sarah Gorden and Sveindis Jane Jonsdottir of Angel City and to Maddie Moreau, Sydney Collins, and Taylor Huff of Bay FC. Huff was issued with a red card in the closing minutes of the game.
The match also marked the return of Savy King to her former team after playing in their inaugural season in 2024 and after suffering cardiac distress last year. Also the 2001 Bay Area (later San Jose) CyberRays WUSA championship was honored at halftime with many players and staffers reuniting for the event.
The LA club returns home for a Friday night game against Houston on March 27 at 7pm while Bay FC will begin their road schedule at North Carolina on Saturday March 28 4pm kickoff.
