Quakes v Minnesota (US Open Cup)

The Quakes overcome a blown 2-1 lead with three answered goals to defeat Minnesota United 4-2 in US Open Cup play.  Beau Leroux opened up the scoresheet with his unassisted goal 15 minutes into the game to account for the lone first half tally. That frame also accounted for Timo Werner injured in the run of play and leaving in the game and Jack Skahan replacing him in the 34th minute.

The second half had Quakes defender Ronaldo Viera put the ball into his own net in the 59th minute to give Minnesota a goal and a 1-1 draw.  Four minutes later Tomás Chancalay gave the Loons a 2-1 lead with his tap into the net drawing boos from the crowd.  However, the Quakes mounted another comeback with sub Skahan drawing the team event with his 68th minute goal.  Beau Leroux completed the comeback with his go-ahead goal in the 73rd minute with Niko Tsakiris adding an insurance goal three minutes later.

Next up for the Quakes is a return to league play on the road to Toronto with the game scheduled for Saturday May 2 at 10am.  Minnesota United continue their road swing in MLS play against Columbus on the same day 4:30pm start.
