SF City wins in dramatic fashion 2-0 over the Glens at Cox Stadium (SF State) to take the first leg of the series.
SF City got called for a penalty early in the game when Dane Pendelton was fouled in the box. His spot kicked was stopped by Glens keeper Lucas Jones who kept the game scoreless for the first half. Another foul was called inside the box with Kai Oppenheim successfully striking the ball into the corner off the penalty spot in the 71st minute finally giving City the lead.
Still another penalty was called in the box a short time later, with Jordi Tortell taking his kick and striking the ball for another score in the 76th minute. The Glens tried to catch up in the remaining minutes of the match with City keeper Andrew Samuels making a clutch save to keep the clean sheet and another win with five for the season and one draw for 16 points and first place in the NorCal division. Project 51O, the Glens, and Almaden remain tied for second place with 10 points.
Next up for SF City is a road trip to San Rafael to play Marin on Wednesday June 10 at 5:30pm, while the Glens return home to Treasure Island to play Project 510 on Sunday June 14 at 11am in another rivalry game.
