SF City win in dramatic fashion 2-1 in the second half of stoppage time in their only meeting of this season.
The game was played to a scoreless draw until Michael Vick stuck the ball into the net in the 73rd minute giving City the 1-0 lead. However, the defending NorCal Division champions drew even eight minutes later with a goal from Arnold Matshazi. The match appeared to be headed for another tie until Israel Cortez got the game winner in the 90th minute. Almaden goalkeeper Matias Herrera Fuentes ended up with the red card after a collision in the box while making a save and that marked the conclusion to the game.
Both teams have a quick turnaround as SF City continue their road swing–this time to Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay to face the Glens on Saturday June 14 at 5pm, while Almaden continue their home stand this time against Project 510 on the same day at 7pm.
