Honduras v Curaçao

Honduras v Curaçao

Honduras breaks a deadlock in the second half of stoppage time to defeat Curacao 2-1 before 6933 people in attendance.   Jorge Alvarez opened up the scoring with his strike from outside in the 32nd minute.  However, it was Honduras goalkeeper Edrick Menjivar that allowed the ball to bounce off his arm while attempting to make a save off a corner kick from Curacao’s Luis Crisanto and into the net drawing the teams even towards halftime.

Luis Palma broke the tie in the 91st minute with his strike giving Honduras the lead and sending them into the knockout rounds getting the needed win, which was their second in the group stage.  While a draw would have been enough to send them forward, it was a must win for Curacao to advance and for them the match was not meant to be finishing with zero wins, two draws, and a loss.
