This Week 9-15-25

Our one match was at Levi’s Stadium for a big rivalry match with the Quakes and LAFC.

The Roots played to a 3-3 draw and our friends have their takes on the match.  Michael Koenig of Soccer Bay Area and Jonathan Comeaux of The Blog write about the team’s performance on the road.

Last week we told about some major changes regarding Bay FC and this time Doug Zimmerman of Soccer Bay Area writes about the impact of the team’s performance this year, and what a new coach will entail with the impending departure of current coach Albertin Montoya.

The team did have a game on the road against defending champions Orlando Pride and while they got a goal from Rachael Kundananji late in the first half, Aly Watt’s equalizer in the 70th minute drew the game even and the teams split the two points.  Next up is a Sunday match against Gotham FC at PayPal Park with a 5:30 kickoff.

We missed out on the hot stove news but we have some additions and subtractions to the Bay FC roster. Brooklyn Courtnall comes in from the Carolina Courage, while Asisat Oshoala goes to Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia.

The Town FC lose on the road to Vancouver 3-1.

The SWPL announced their schedule and there is soccer to fill your weekend.  South San Francisco has their home games every Sunday at 10:30 at El Camino High School and the games are free.  We will be there for select games during the off-season and in the meantime check out the site for more news and information.

We were at the post game conference and saw Quakes head coach Bruce Arena and midfielder Ian Harkes take questions from the media. Despite the loss they spoke about the team’s performance, why it was a challenge to come from behind, what they need to plan with four games left in the schedule, and the atmosphere with the record breaking crowd at Levi’s Stadium.
