This Week 9-29-25

Our games were with Bay FC on Saturday and The Town FC on Sunday.

The Roots end up drawing 3-3 at Phoenix.  Michael Koenig at Soccer Bay Area and Jonathan Comeaux at The Oakland Roots Blog have their takes on the Roots squandering a 3-0 lead only to get a point on the road.

The Quakes pick up an important win at San Diego on Saturday with their 1-0 win thanks to a 14th goal from Josef Martínez off a Chicho Arango assist.  They now stand in 9th place with two games left: one on the road at Vancouver on Sunday October 5 before finishing the season at home against Austin on Saturday October 18.  Two wins may be enough to qualify for the MLS Cup playoffs, while one win may need from help from other teams.

We have an update from Bay FC in which the team finally broke ground on their training facility at Treasure Island in San Francisco to open ahead of the 2027.  With construction finally commencing it leads to where the team will play in the future with PayPal Park being an “interim” facility.  For now, the long term future is secure with a place to train and prepare and we have a take from last year written by Doug Zimmerman of Soccer Bay Area.
