The Town FC v Austin FC II

The Town FC v Austin FC II

The Town FC lose to Austin FC II by a score of 2-1 to close the season.  While the Quakes reserves did not need the game having clinched the Pacific Division and the second spot in the post season, the visitors needed a win and other results to qualify.

Bryant Farkarlun of Austin opened up the scoring with his 41th minute first half strike, but it was The Town’s Nick Fernandez that scored the equalizer three minutes into the second half. Jorge Alastuey scored the game winner for Austin with his 80th minute strike securing the win, but not without an on-field verbal incident that the referee noticed in the latter minutes of stoppage time–calling for an early conclusion of the match.

Austin ended up being eliminated needing North Texas to either lose or just win by one goal but with their 4-2 win over LAFC they along with Vancouver and Ventura County will qualify for the post-season.  They along with Minnesota will be the possible first round opponent for The Town, who will pick among the 4 bottom ranked clubs on Thursday October 9.

As of press time the date and venue have not been officially announced but given that Bay FC will play on Friday October 17 and the Quakes the following day in all likelihood the match will be at PayPal Park on Sunday October 19 sometime in the evening.  Stay tuned for the official announcement.
