Manaka Matsukubo’s hat trick and Shinomu Koyama’s goal propel the North Carolina Courage to a 4 to 1 victory over Bay FC at PayPal Park. The match was the last home game of the 2025 season.
The Courage got off to a fast start with Matsukubo scoring her goals in the 3rd and 8th minutes. Penelope Hocking pulled Bay close with her strike in the first half of stoppage time. Jordan Silkowitz kept the team close with her penalty kick save from Matsukubo denying her an attempt at a hat trick. However she hit her third goal with her 80th minute inside the box. Koyama contributed to the tally with her 74th minute goal. The win keeps North Carolina in contention for a playoff spot.
The match was also the last hurrah at home for Bay FC head coach Albertin Montoya who will step down after Bay FC’s last game on the road at Racing Louisville on November 2. The Courage will also play on the same day at home against Gotham FC.
