The Quakes come from behind to win 2 to 1 over Austin FC.
Owen Wolff opened up the scoring tally with his 22nd minute goal giving Austin the 1-0 lead. While the Quakes seemed to be on the brink of elimination with a loss, Josef Martinez’s 74th minute equalizer drew the game even but it was substitute Niko Tsakiris who made the biggest difference with his first MLS career goal in league play three minutes later that insured the win.
Two of three results were needed to ensure a spot in the postseason: Dallas losing to Vancouver (Dallas 2-1 Vancouver), Real Salt Lake losing to St. Louis (2-2 draw), and Colorado losing or drawing to LAFC (2-2 draw). With only one of the results going their way the team’s 2025 season is complete and now they begin their plans for next year deciding on who will be retained and who will end up elsewhere. While the season was an improvement over the last there will be questions on what could have been and what needs to be done to return to prominence and finally get back into contention with the hope of finally hosting a playoff game since 2012.
