The Quakes and Austin played to a 2-2 draw.

The Quakes will hit the road and play Houston on Saturday May 9 at 5:30 PDT while Austin will return home and host Minnesota the following day at 4:30 pm PDT. The teams will play the return leg in Texas on August 6.
The Earthquakes held on to their slim playoff hopes with a 4-0 win over first year expansion club Austin FC. The first half was a scoreless draw but the home team. Chofis started the tally two minutes into the second half with his 47th minute strike. Benji Kikanovic continued the scoring with his goal six minutes later, and in another six minute gap substitute Chris Wondolowski scored the third goal for the Quakes. His 59th minute tally gives him 169 goals for his career with 4 games left in the 2021 regular season. Carlos Fierro scored the dagger for the home team in the 85th minute to earn the victory.

The Quakes now have until Saturday October 23 at 7pm for their next home match against Vancouver in which the winner may increase their chances to play for the MLS Cup. Austin FC returns home to play against Texas rival Houston on Sunday October 14 2pm PT start.
