Quakes v Manchester United

In a friendly played at Levi’s Stadium, the Quakes and Manchester United were held to a scoreless draw.    In their second meeting since their game at Avaya Stadium on July 2015, this match was merely a tuneup for the upcoming Premiership season for United while the Quakes were playing in between breaks in their league calendar.  Many of the United stars except for Alexis Sanchez and Anthony Martial made the trip and played at least one half, while the Quakes were rotating between their starters and reserves as well.

The Quakes return to league play on July 25 hosting Seattle at Avaya Stadium followed by another home match against Real Salt Lake on July 28.  Manchester United are in the middle of their USA tour–having traveled in 2015, 2017, and this year.  Having played in Phoenix against Club America and in the Bay Area against the Quakes, the fabled Red Devils travel to LA to play AC Milan at the Stubhub Center in Carson on July 25, to Ann Arbor to play Liverpool on July 28, and to Miami against Real Madrid on July 31.

International Champions Cup 2018

Tuesday the International Champions Cup game at Levi’s Stadium was announced.  On Saturday August 4 at 5pm AC Milan and Barcelona will meet at the home of the NFL San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara.

The teams are no strangers to the field, as the Italian club has played against English club Liverpool in 2016, while the Spanish/Catalonian team played in 2015 against Manchester United, who will return as well to play against the San Jose Earthquakes days earlier on July 22.

Right now fans can sign up at http://www.internationalchampionscup.com/ before the general public ticket sales begin on May 1.  This match is expected to attract a capacity crowd at the Bay Area’s premier venue.
