Quakes v Real Salt Lake

The Quakes hosted another midweek match, this time against Real Salt Lake, but the effort was all for naught thanks to a 4-3 loss.  Chofis was clearly the player of the match thanks to his hat trick.  His goal in the 26th minute gave the Quakes the lead but the visitors evened the score thanks to a Rubio Rubin tally before the end of the first half.

The second half had the match with both teams exchanging the lead with Salt Lake adding with a goal from Alfred Rusnak in the 49th minute. Another Chofis strike one minute later and the third to complete his trick fifteen minutes after gave the Quakes a 3-2 lead.  The possible three point win and one point draw were blown thanks to goals from Justin Meram (71st minute) Rubin Rubio (81st minute) and giving Salt Lake the win.

Quakes v Real Salt Lake

In a match in which both teams needed a win in order to bolster their MLS Cup playoff fortunes, it was Chris Wondolowski who came in the clutch through his goals in the 16th minute off a missed post shot from Cristian Espinoza and again in the 74th minute off a feed from Shea Salinas, which was his 47th career assist for the Quakes tying him with Ronald Cerritos for the all time lead in that category.  The result was a 2-0 victory for the Quakes over Real Salt Lake, and as of now they are in the driver’s seat to make the playoffs for the first time since 2017. For Wondolowski the brace increases his career tally to 165 goals and that performance earned him Player of the Week honors.

The Quakes will play one more home game against LAFC on Sunday November 1 before heading back to Seattle the following weekend on November 8 in what could be a playoff deciding match for both teams.  Real Salt Lake is in a must win situation with their away swing continuing to LA to play the Galaxy at Carson on November 1 before heading home against Sporting Kansas City on November 8.

In a very spirited game marked with five yellow cards, the Quakes had chances to score a goal but the effort was salvaged in a 0-0 draw.  Andrew Tarbell earned the clean sheet in the match, while Quincy Amarikwa had his strike hit the crossbar which was probably the best chance for the team.
