For the first time in about 4 months, the Quakes finally took the field in a league game in the form of a World Cup style tournament. Their first game against the defending MLS Cup champion Seattle Sounders was played to a scoreless draw. Despite the Quakes dominating play, the result earned them at least a point in the standings.
The game recap and highlights are from the Quakes website.
The next two games could determine if the team will advance to the knockout rounds, with a match this Wednesday against Vancouver at 6pm and Chicago on Sunday at 5pm. We will have recaps from both games next Monday.
If you want to be part of the crowd for an upcoming Oakland Roots this is your chance. Since the Fall schedule for the team at Laney College will be closed door, for a very good cause they will have a cutout of you in the stands. Roots members get a discount for $35 while everyone else will cost $45 with a family of 4 for $156 and group rates for $360 for 10. Details can be found at the Roots website.
