A bit of breaking news that is worth noting.

First up the Quakes land another player from the defunct Reno 1868 club with the signing of forward Benji Kikanovic. The 21 year striker hopes to add more depth with the departure of Danny Hoesen.  Today’s addition to the 2021 roster is the second in as many days with the acquistion of midfielder Eric Remedi from Atlanta United.

Also in other news from the lower flight, Contra Costa FC will be playing in the NPSL for the 2021 season provided the league is cleared to schedule games.

The Concord/Walnut Creek outfit fills the void of a club in the region with the absence of San Ramon FC and the failed attempt to field a USL Championship team, which has since been yielded to the Oakland Roots switching from NISA.  Also, the Project 510 team (Oakland Roots reserves) will be going from the NPSL to USL League Two which fills a void left with a second East Bay team.

Contra Costa FC would be another close fit with Napa Valley and Sonoma County from the North Bay, along with El Farolito in San Francisco and the rebranded Oakland Stompers representing the Bay Area. Academica of Turlock,  FC Davis, and Sacramento Gold round out the teams in the division.
