In the second game in one week the Quakes needed to have a quick turnaround from Wednesday’s loss to the Seattle Sounders to focus on another rival in the Portland Timbers. However, the home team had to play catchup from the start with an early 5th minute goal from Yimmi Chara. Chris Wondolowski had a chance to tie the game in the 61st minute only to have Timbers goalkeeper Logan Ketterer save the ball. Marvin Loria scored an insurance goal in the 74th minute giving the Quakes a 2-0 loss and their second in as many games.
Next up for the Quakes will be another home match this time against Sporting Kansas City on Saturday May 22 7pm while on the same day the Timbers will host the LA Galaxy in an afternoon matinee 12:30 pm start.
