Some more women’s soccer news from last week courtesy of Soccer Bay Area
A pair of news items from the Quakes – they win 2-1 on the road against Monterey Bay Union FC in their 2023 debut and they land a Designated Player in World Cup player Carlos Gruezo from Ecaudor. He previously played for FC Dallas under new head coach Luchi Gonzalez before heading to play for Augsberg in the German Bundesliga.
Next up for San Jose is training camp at Palm Springs with matches against D.C. United (Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. PT), Minnesota United FC (Feb. 15 at 12 p.m. PT), and the New York Red Bulls (Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. PT) before opening on the road at Atlanta on February 25.
Looks like Monterey Bay will have a second team playing in USL League Two, joining Academica which previously played in the NPSL.
