The Quakes come down from a 3-1 deficit after scoring the opening goal to win 4-3 to keep themselves in the MLS Next playoff race. The match was held at a time where the top flight teams took a break to compete in the Leagues Cup.
First team player Ousseni Bouda opened up the scoring with his strike 12 minutes into the game, only for the visitors to score three unanswered goals the rest of the half with Diego Gonzalez scoring the equalizer seven minutes later. In the 30th and 44th minute Houston extended their lead with a brace from Talen Maples.
The second half started the Quakes comeback with Maples scoring the goal into his own net in the 53rd minute–giving him the dubious distinction of having a tally for both teams. However, the home town kids were able to score goals on their own with one from Casey Walls to equalize the game in the 60th minute. Eduardo “Lalo” Blancas completed the comeback and win with his goal in the 83rd minute.
