SF City entered their eighth USL 2 season on the road against league debutant San Juan SC at Folsom Lake College east of Sacramento. It was defensive miscues that did the team in as the home upstarts won 5 to 1.
Sergio Laguna opened up the scoring for SF City in the 17th minute but that was all for the visitors, as the newest USL League Two team scored five unanswered goals. Sean Battistessa played hat trick hero with his three goals in the match with his tallies in the 27th, 49th, and 75 minutes. Zach Giles and Juanrafael Suarez Amaya provided the other goals for San Juan in the 71st and 79th minutes respectively.
SF City will wait a week for a rematch against San Juan on May 14 at 6:30pm while the winners have another home match against Project 51O on Saturday May 9.
