For the first time in their history Bay FC began their season at home and this match was one for the ages as their opponent Denver Summit FC was playing their very first game ever.
With the off-season moves and a new coach, the team was a mix of returnees and new players and the result paid off with a 2-1 win. Michelle Pfeiffer gave Bay FC the lead with her 8th minute strike early but Denver notched their very first goal ever 12 minutes later with a header from Melissa Kössler.
The team ended up with an advantage when Janine Sonis of Denver was ejected from the match 7 minutes after assisting on Kosler’s goal. Bay FC was able to spoil the Summit’s debut with a game winner from Joelle Anderson in the 30th minute.
Next up for Bay FC is another home match against LA rival Angel City on Saturday March 21 at 5:45pm while Denver continue their road trip to Orlando on Friday March 20 at 5pm. They will have one more road match to the New York area to meet Gotham FC on Wednesday March 25 at 4pm before their inaugural home match on March 28 11am against Washington.
