In the first game since May, the Quakes returned to Paypal Park with a new goalkeeper signing Scottish goalkeeper Angus Gunn from Nottingham Forest of the English Premier League. Gunn was signed after his stint in the World Cup for Scotland starting in all three games. As a result of the new acquisition, Daniel was dealt to FC Dallas for $1 million in General Allocation Money.
Orlando also had a major signing with French international Antoine Griezmann, who was signed from Atlético Madrid and played for Barcelona in-between stints and despite being retired from international soccer in 2024 he ended up having the stellar debut with his team coming out on top 4-0 over the Quakes.
David Brelako scored early for Orlando in the 7th minute, while Ivan Angulo added to the tally 29 minutes into the match. However, it was Griezmann who ended up with the stellar debut with his goal to open up the second half in the 48th, and Braian Ojeda putting the game out of reach in the 73rd.
Both teams have a quick turnaround with the Quakes hosting the LA Galaxy at Stanford on Saturday July 25 at 7:30pm, while Orlando returns home to host Nashville on the same day at 4:30pm.
