The Quakes and Galaxy play to a 1-1 draw before over 43,026 in attendance at Stanford Stadium. Joseph Paintsil gave the visitors the lead in the 13th minute before Reid Roberts scored the equalizer in the 63rd. The Quakes had one attempt to win the game with Ousseni Bouda being fouled in the box by Galaxy goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski. Timo Werner in his debut in the storied rivalry attempted the penalty kick only to be stopped by the former Quakes keeper now playing for the other team.
The match will most likely be the last mid-summer match with the league having a 2027 sprint season before shifting to a fall to spring calendar next August. Both teams will now break for the All-Star Game in Charlotte in Wednesday where the best of MLS will square off against the best of Liga MX (Mexico). The Quakes will go back to the road to Cincinnati next Saturday August 1 at 4:30pm, while LA returns home to face Dallas on the same day at 7:30pm.
