In a battle of the top teams in the Western Conference, it was both teams that were fit to be tied with a 1-1 draw. Both teams had their German Designated Players not suit up with Timo Werner of San Jose nursing an injury, and Thomas Muller due to illness.
Preston Judd got the team scoring early with his 4th minute strike, but it was Sebastian Berhalter who equalized in the 76th minute for the visitors, insuring an important road point in the standings. However, the Quakes as of May 11 hold the top record overall with 29 points while the Whitecaps hold second with 26.
The Quakes will hit the road for a midweek match against Seattle on Wednesday May 13 at 6:30pm before returning home to face FC Dallas on Saturday May 16 at 7:30pm, while the Whitecaps continue their road trip and will have their games on those very same days–this time to Texas to play the same FC Dallas team on Wednesday and then Houston on Saturday–both kickoff times at 5:30pm PT.
