Quakes v Real Valladolid

Sandro Castillo of Valladolid scored a goal in the 34th minute while Chris Wondolowski evened the score at the 60th minute with an assist from Paul Marie as the Quakes drew with the Spanish La Liga side at 1 goal each.  Wondolowski had a penalty kick goal hit the crossbar in the latter stages of the second half to preserve the tie.

The Quakes resume league play with a road trip to Vancouver against the Whitecaps on Saturday July 20 7pm kickoff, while Valladolid opens up their La Liga slate at Real Betis on Saturday August 19.

Quakes v Real Salt Lake

In a match that was headed towards a draw, late game substitute Danny Hoesen scored a goal 3 minutes into the second half of stoppage time to seal a 1-0 for the Quakes over Real Salt Lake.  The game continued an 8 game home unbeaten streak (7-0-1).

The Quakes have a return engagement against the LA Galaxy, this time on the road on Friday July 12, 8pm kickoff time.  Real Salt Lake returns home to host Philadelphia on Saturday July 13 at 7pm.

Quakes v Galaxy

In another match that was fit for the storied history of both teams, San Jose and Los Angeles met for the eighth time at Stanford Stadium.  It was no contest as Vako started the scoring in the 11th minute.  It was a tightly contested match until Shea Salinas came off the bench in the in the 75th minute and 8 minutes later scored an insurance goal off an assist by Vako to put the home team in the lead for good.  Tommy Thompson later added a goal with 5 minutes remaining to seal the victory.  The win puts the Quakes on a 6 game unbeaten streak (4 wins and 2 draws).

The Quakes have another quick turnaround as they go on the road to St. Paul to play Minnesota United Wednesday July 3 at 5pm before returning home to face Real Salt Lake at Avaya Stadium on Saturday July 6 at 7pm.  LA comes back home to host Toronto FC in a holiday match on Thursday July 4 7:30 pm kickoff.  Both teams will once again meet in two weeks time with the return leg at Carson on Friday July 12 at 8pm.

Quakes v Dynamo

Vako scored a brace with his goals coming in the 23rd and 75th minutes as the Quakes defeat the Dynamo 2-0.

The Quakes will have a quick turnaround with a match at Stanford against the LA Galaxy on Saturday June 29 7pm kickoff. Houston will continue their road trip to the East Coast against New England on the same day 4:30 pm kickoff.

Quakes v Sacramento (US Open Cup)

San Jose is on break until June 26 when they host Houston in league play while Sacramento resumes USL play against the Tulsa Roughnecks on June 22 7pm kickoff. The next Open Cup match for the Quakes will be on the road against LAFC on June 20 at Banc of California Stadium kickoff at 7:30pm.

Quakes v FC Dallas

The Quakes continued their unbeaten streak with a 2-2 draw with FC Dallas.  Chris Wondolowski continued his goal scoring tear with his goal in the 46th minute while Magnus Eriksson was gifted with his through the officials through Video Review in the 52nd.  The Wondo tally increases his career total to 152 goals.

FC Dallas did get one thanks to an own goal by Quakes keeper Daniel Vega in the 27th minute while  Francis Atuahene scored the game tying goal in the 65th.

The Quakes are on a league break until June 26 when they meet the other Texas team Houston Dynamo at home.  They still have an Open Cup date against Sacramento Republic FC on Tuesday June 11 7:15pm kickoff. FC Dallas are also on league break until June 22 when they host Toronto FC 5pm kickoff.  They also enter the US Open Cup this Wednesday June 12 hosting OKC Energy 5pm start.

Quakes v FC Cincinnati

In a match that was marred by fouls, cautions, and ejections the Quakes squeaked by with a win thanks to a Nick Lima goal in the 22nd minute.  That match was enough to get a 1-0 win, and their third home victory of the season.

A total of 28 fouls (15 from the Quakes and 13 from Cincinnati) plus 6 yellow cards (3 from each side), and the red card ejection of Cristian Espinoza in the 51st minute thanks to his yellow in the 15th was the focal point of the match.  Still, the team was able to grind out the results in a major improvement from the season before.

The Quakes will hit the road to Foxboro, Massachusetts to play New England in their only meeting on Saturday May 11 at 4:30pm.  Cincinnati will return home to host Montreal on the same day, 10 am PDT start tine.

Quakes v Sporting Kansas City

Danny Hoesen’s early goals in the 6th and 12th minutes were the catalyst in the Quakes match against Sporting Kansas City.   Additional goals from Shea Salinas to open the second half, followed by a goal from Magnus Erikkson in the 61st minute was enough to win 4-1 over Sporting Kansas City. Felipe Gutiérrez scored a penalty kick in the 66th minute was the only blemish in the game.

The win was the second this season for San Jose and equals the number of home victories from last year.

The Earthquakes will begin a two game road trip, first up to Seattle against the Sounders on Wednesday April 24 at 7:30pm followed by a Saturday afternoon match at FC Dallas on April 27 12:30 kickoff.  Their next home game will be on May 4 at 6:45 against league newcomers FC Cincinnati 6:45pm start time. Sporting Kansas City will be returning home to host New England on Saturday April 27 at 5:30pm PDT.

Quakes v Timbers

Shea Salinas scored  in the 15th minute, while Danny Hoesen added another goal in the 34th minute and Cris Espinoza one minute later to give the Quakes a 3-0 win.  The victory was the first for new coach Matias Almeyda and the first points in the 2019 season.  Espinoza also had an assist on the first goal.

The Quakes continue league play against the Houston Dynamo at BBVA Compass Stadium on Saturday April 13 noon start time.  The Timbers continue their road trip against FC Dallas on the same day at 5pm.

Quakes v LAFC

It was the Carlos Vela show as he netted 3 goals to give LAFC a 5-0 win.  His goals in the 8th, 45th plus 3rd of stoppage time, and the 66th minute was the catalyst in giving the second LA team another victory.  The game was also a homecoming for Steven Beitashour, who played for the Quakes from 2010 to 2013 before playing for Vancouver, Toronto where he won a title, and now LA.  His goal in the 26th minute gave his team a very unsurmountable lead and assisted on the hat trick Vela strike.  Diego Rossi added another goal in the 68th minute.  The Quakes are currently winless in 4 games this year.

The Quakes conclude their homestand against another West Coast rival in Portland on Saturday April 6 with a 4:45 start time. LAFC continues their road trip on the same day at DC United with a noon PDT kickoff.  The return leg will be Banc of California Stadium on August 23 at 7:30pm.
