JASA Redwood City v Oakland Roots

In a warmup for the upcoming 2020 season, JASA Redwood City of the UPSL hosted NISA upstarts Oakland Roots at Red Morton Park.  While the match was only a friendly and consisted mostly of reserves the home team scored a second half goal and that was the only highlight with the match, with the small outfit defeating the hyped club 1-0.

JASA Redwood City will host the Roots reserve unit in the NPSL Project 51O on Friday February 28 at 7:30pm.  The Roots will kick off their 2020 campaign against Chattanooga FC at Laney College in Oakland, start time is 5:10pm.

Andrew Tarbell has been dealt to Columbus for $75,000 of General Allocated Money (GAM).  The move gives JT Marcinkowski and Matt Bersano a chance to be the backup keeper to Daniel Vega, who in one season has become the starting keeper of the team.

NEWS: Earthquakes Acquire GAM in Trade with Columbus Crew SC (sjearthquakes.com)

The Quakes will be kicking off 2020 in style with various events around town. (sjearthquakes.com)

This Week 2-17-20

There is no news to report, except in a tuneup for their upcoming seasons JASA Redwood City (UPSL) hosted El Farolito (NPSL) and defeated the San Francisco club 2-0 with all their goals scored in the second half.  JASA will host two more friendlies against the Oakland Roots on Sunday February 23 at 7pm and against the Roots reserves Project 51O Friday February 28 at 7:30pm both matches at Red Morton Field in Redwood City.

Latest News – JASA Redwood City

Per the JASA Redwood City Instagram – their preseason slate has been announced with matches against NPSL sides El Farolito and Project 51O and NISA club Oakland Roots–of note they will be playing against the Roots and their reserve team (51O).  Details below.

This Week 2-10-20

Nothing to report for this week.  The only announcement for Monday is SF City naming Eddie Soto head coach.  He replaces Evan Sassano who was at the helm for the 2019 season.

Also, SF City has announced the rest of their 2020 season schedule with the home opener against the Glens on May 10–their crosstown rival will also serve as the home closer on July 12.  Single game tickets go on sale March 1,  While the Glens schedule has been listed on the USL League Two site they are yet to officially announce their full slate of 2020 matches.

Latest News – SF Glens

On Monday, Javier Ayala-Hil stepped down as SF Glens head coach.  In a move that was not surprising former MLS/US defender Jimmy Conrad was named as Ayala-Hil’s successor and will take on the dual role of technical director (for which he was named in September 2018) and head coach.
