NEWS: Avaya Stadium to Host U.S. MNT Friendly against Costa Rica February 2

The match will be the second of early year matches usually held on the west coast in late January/early February with the rosters to include mostly MLS players since the window is not part of the FIFA international calendar where players can be released to their national teams so most likely no Christian Pulisic and the other startlets including Josh Sargeant and Tim Weah.  However, Nick Lima may be included in the roster so stay tuned.  For any of the latest off-season roster news stay tuned here at 3pointsport.com for more.

As reported JASA Redwood City defeated the Oakland Stompers 3-1 to take the division.  It’s down to second place between the Stompers and Real San Jose and on Tuesday night the Stompers took control of their own destiny as they defeated San Ramon Dynamos in a 8-1 blowout.  The match was a makeup date for November 10 in which the game had to be postponed due to the Camp Fire in Northern California.

The win puts the Stompers at 4 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses which is good for second place (14 points) in the division behind JASA Redwood City with a perfect 5 wins and 3 draws record (18 points).  As of press time JASA is assured of a playoff spot with more information to be announced.  The Stompers still have their US Open Cup Qualifier make up match to be played.

This week 11-26-18

There’s nothing happening in local soccer except for one league game with JASA Redwood City defeating the Oakland Stompers 3-1 at Red Morton Park.

Also, we missed Bluesnod at the game but he has his takes from his youtube channel.  Give it a follow for some takes on various matches around the Bay Area.

The Oakland Stompers host San Ramon in a makeup game from November 10 tomorrow (Tuesday November 26) at 9pm Raimondi Park.  With JASA Redwood City already locking up the top spot it all comes down to second place between the Stompers and most likely Real San Jose.  Win and in.

Also the Holidays are in full swing.   Here’s some early places to hang out–both events at Standard Deviant Bar in San Francisco.

FootySF is no longer part of the scene but they still give their support.  Why the people that be here started 3pointsport – to continue the tradition.

Check it out and it’s for a good cause–Saturday December 8 4:30pm.  I was there from 2013, and then from 2015 to last year.  I will be there as part of the gang.

And yes–another Standard Deviant event.  This time, SF City is hosting.  Friday December 14 at 7pm. Members get perks if they attend so join today for 2019 memberships.

JASA Redwood City v Stompers

In a game that was postponed a week earlier due to the teams’ participation in the US Open Cup, and in addition to the poor air quality caused by the recent Northern California wildfires, JASA Redwood City and the Oakland Stompers finally have their game to determine placement in the division.  The match was dominated by Redwood City with three unanswered goals to give them a 3-1 win.  A late Stompers goal off the free kick in the second half was the consolation in ruining the shutout for the home team.  The 90 minutes were dominated by some very chippy and animated play from both sides.  However, it was home team that prevailed in the return leg that saw them draw even last month.

With the win JASA clinches the UPSL Western Conference Wild West South Division and complete their regular season slate with a perfect 5 wins and 3 draws (18 points).  The Stompers, currently in second place with 2 wins, 3  draws, and 2 losses (9 points) still have a chance at second place when they meet San Ramon Tuesday night November 27 at 9pm at Raimondi Park in a makeup date from November 10.  Simple win for Oakland would mean the second spot in the post-season.  The rest of the UPSL division schedule has been unconfirmed, but only the Stompers and JASA have completed their slate of matches, with the US Open Cup third round game and their league make-up game to go.

Latest News

The Oakland Stompers and JASA Redwood City will meet Saturday November 24 at 5pm at Red Morton Park in the return leg from the October 13 game at Raimondi Park in the East Bay where the teams drew even with a goal each.

Also the game that was postponed on November 10 will be a Tuesday night late game at Raimondi Park this Tuesday November 27 at 9pm.  The final two games will come down to the wire.

The US Open Cup match that was postponed last Saturday November 17 does not have a rescheduled date as of press time.
